Features

Calculator disguiseStash opens as a calculator that really calculates. The secret PIN opens the vault. Step-tracker and puzzle-game looks with a matching app icon are also available.
File typesPhotos and videos from the photo library; PDFs, documents and audio from Files. Items can be sorted into albums.
Secure notesPrivate text notes inside the vault.
UnlockPIN; optional Face ID or Touch ID; auto-lock.
Guest PIN (Premium)A second PIN opens a separate guest vault that holds only the items placed there.
Intruder photo (Premium)Opt-in. After a wrong PIN, Stash takes a front-camera photo, encrypts it and keeps it in the vault.
Backup (Premium)Optional encrypted backup to the user's own iCloud Drive or Google Drive, started by the user, never automatic.
Recovery keyShown once during setup, for when the PIN is forgotten.
ImportImporting copies an item into the vault; the original stays in Photos until the user deletes it.
Failed PIN attemptsLockout of 30 seconds after 5 failed attempts, 5 minutes after 10, and 30 minutes after 15 or more.

Encryption and privacy

EncryptionEvery item is encrypted on the device with AES-256 before it is saved.
Key storageThe key stays in the iOS Keychain.
Zero-knowledgeThere is no Stash server that receives vault files; the developer cannot see, scan or recover them.
iCloud PhotosVault files sit in the app, not in the Photos library, so iCloud Photos does not upload them.
Analytics and adsThe app uses no analytics frameworks and shows no ads.
PurchasesVerified through RevenueCat with a random, anonymous user ID; RevenueCat receives no vault content, PIN or biometric data.
Privacy policyPrivacy

Stash adds a second lock for the items you choose. It does not replace a strong device passcode and is not a defence against someone who controls your unlocked phone and knows your PIN, or against forensic analysis of the device.
